12:33 am - Lion upgrade woes
Anyone else having issues logging in successfully after making the jump to Lion? More curious than anything...

Me too :(. Doesn't seem to work anymore. See below:
Could not log in

The server responded with HTTP error code -1. There may be a problem with the server.

Make sure you have the correct server URL and try again later.

I have the same error code. My husband is a programmer and has been looking at the source to see what the problem is. He doesn't have an answer yet.

I'm immlass's husband. I have a working copy in my sandbox. It's not releasable via official channels, but I can provide an unofficial build and (if I can get in touch with the maintainers) should be easy to provide a patch for them.

For anyone on the coding side, I switched from Core Foundation networking to NSURL. I can't even tell you why it worked...

I still need to do code cleanup, get rid of all my log messages, etc, but should be something for the ten of us before too long...

Alpha Alpha Alpha

Experimental XJournal for Lion (only)

Please only use this if you need it. I'm making it available for people to test. If you can't use XJournal because of the -1 problem, it's worth a shot. This version is marked 1.0.6b6a and is NOT in the svn repository.

Install by downloading the disk image, opening it, dragging the XJournal bundle to your Applications Folder, and launching it.

1: I can't sign it, so it's not updatable via Sparkle.
2: I can't tell if it's slower because I'm using a slower method or it's just LJ flakiness. Login in particular seems to be slow.
3: We've tested most functions on two Lion MBPs. There could be surprises or things that don't work that I may not be able to easily diagnose.

That being said, this version...
1: runs on Lion on my MBP and my wife's MBP.
2: logs in, gets user pics and tags, allows you to post, checks friends lists, shows history, and does everything else we tried. We don't know if it does things we didn't try.

Comment here if you notice anything, or if the devs want my changes.

Re: Alpha Alpha Alpha

I think I'm the last one to work on Xjournal.

Don't use Xjournal or Livejournal at all anymore.

If you send me the changes I'll update the sourceforge version and release an update.

And if you want I can arrange access for you.

You can contact me at alistairmcmillan75@gmail.com.
